WAN Metal in Architecture Award 2016 Shortlist Announced

Mirrored Stainless Steel

IMARK was proud to learn early in September that a recent project of ours, the Castle Downs Park Pavilion, was shortlisted by the World Architecture News as one of the top projects for showcasing the Diversity of Metal in Architecture in the world!  Architect group gh3 were the masterminds behind the Pavilion’s clever design of mirrored stainless steel panels that accordion around the entire structure.

The WAN Awards are the world’s largest awards programme in international architecture.

As one of six of the projects that were in contention for the award, all did an exemplary job of displaying the infinite possibilities of how metal can be incorporated into a building’s design. The imagination is truly the limit with metal products.

Recently the winner of the award was announced and there were actually two winners: Salling Tower which is located in the City of Aarhus, Denmark and Butterfly Pavilion which is located on Noor Island, United Arab Emirates.

We applaud the City of Edmonton for commissioning and gh3 for designing a project that was recognized on a world scale. It is not everyday that Edmonton is thought of as being a front runner in architecture and design but we look forward to working on more local projects that create world-wide buzz, like the Castle Downs Pavilion did.
